This is real...Let's talk about it.
This is a free contest. No entry fee is required. Contest dates are from April 1 to April 30, 2020. The deadline is midnight (Eastern Standard Time) on April 30.
Poets will write a poem or submit a previously written poem answering the following prompt : Write about the positive or negative impact the COVID-19 virus has had on you.
Each poem will be read by Shaunna Barbee and a panel of writers. Only one entry per person accepted.
POETRY CONTEST RULES
One prize of $100 cash (Sent via CASHapp) to the winner. Prize should be deposited into account no later than two (2) weeks after the entry deadline.
The contest is open to anyone age ten to age eighteen, residing in the United States. Current students of the author (Wake County Public Schools) are not eligible to enter.
Contest entries are judged based on creativity, sensible use of poetic devices such as alliteration, assonance, metaphors...overall feeling and emotional impact, relevance and conveyance of thought from the writer to the judge.
The winner's poem is be published on this site with the consent of the poet and parent at time of entry. Author Shaunna Barbee does not have any copyright rights to the contestant's poetry and may not reproduce or distribute the work for payment.
All individual poetry remains the property of the author/contestant.
